  • Disc 1: Describes Dr. Strupp’s psychodynamic therapy approach to psychotherapy. Dr. Strupp works with client Richard to help him explore the ramifications of past patterns in interpersonal relationships and helps him explore new relationships that help mitigate the earlier damage.
  • Disc 2: Describes the cognitive behavior modification approach to psychotherapy used by Dr. Meichenbaum. Dr. Meichenbaum demonstrates his technque with the client Richard, helping him become aware of internal processes such as thoughts, feelings, and internal dialogues that are often reflected in behavior. Meichenbaum helps the patient become aware of these processes and the recurring patterns he emits in differing situations. His technique helps the client view the effect he has on others as evidence of his behavior and helps the patient explore other options open to him.
  • Disc 3: Dr. Aaron Beck demonstrates his cognitive therapy approach to psychotherapy. Working with the client Richard, Dr. Beck teaches him how to identify his own negative thoughts and to rebut them to help his anxiety and depression.
